ExpoTV, About.com Forge Distribution Deal

ExpoTV will start airing About.com's made-for-Internet video clips on TV, and will also stream them online on ExpoTV.com, as part of a new partnership announced Monday.

About.com President and CEO Scott Meyer said the Expo deal is part of About.com's push to get involved in broadband video. "It's early days for us, and we're aggressively looking at partnerships in many different parts of the broadband spectrum," he said. "We're working with Brightcove, and we're aggressively looking at partnerships in many different parts of the broadband spectrum." The Brightcove deal was forged in February, and aims to help the Times, which owns About.com, syndicate video content to other Web sites via its customized player.

The categories of videos that About.com will syndicate include home and garden, electronics, travel, and style, with shorts like "Shopping for a Digital Camera" and "Choosing a Cell Phone." The content will be pre-produced and delivered to Expo, which will then decide how to incorporate the clips, Meyer said.

Expo plans to make About.com programming available in on ExpoTV and ExpoTV.com starting later this month.
