SearchVortals, a search engine technology firm, next week is expected to launch a technology that allows Web publishers to create vertical-themed search engines for their users. The technology places
a search bar on a publisher's site that will yield a search related to the publisher's content--a search for books on a health Web site would yield only books about health topics, for example. The
search bar also displays contextual text ads relevant to the publisher's content, and allows publishers to filter out search results that lead off-site, aiding in visitor retention.
