VoIP firm Skype announced to its subscribers by e-mail Monday that all calls from PCs to telephones within the U.S. and Canada would be free until the end of 2006. Previously on Skype--which was
purchased by eBay in September 2005--calls from computers to computers were free, but users had to pay for calls from computers to phones. In the subscriber e-mail, Skype touted its cheap
international rates, as well as extras like headphones, voicemail, and ringtones--all of which are available from the Skype store.
