Ad Industry, Unions Call For Commercial Comp Studies

  • May 18, 2006
The ad industry's Joint Policy Committee on Broadcast Talent Union Relations, the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists Wednesday said they have invited nine consultants from both industry and academia to pitch a proposal for a joint study of alternate models to compensate performers for their participation in commercials that appear in television and radio as well as in the growing array of new media. Results of the research may be incorporated into the ad industry's collective bargaining agreement with the commercial talent units, which expires Oct. 29. Details of the RFP are available at: http://www.aftra.com/press/rfp.pdf.
