Monster.com Launches Marketing Channel

Job search site Monster.com has launched a vertical channel dedicated to marketing, advertising, and PR positions in response to increasing demand for professionals in that space, the company said Tuesday.

Marketing and PR headhunting firm Aquent is the exclusive sponsor of the channel, which also includes a specialized search for only industry-related resumes and postings from the Monster database, as well as a community and message board.

Norma Gaffin, director of content for Monster, said demand is especially high right now for online marketing professionals. "Online marketing is huge," she said, adding that job searchers with experience are highly sought after.

Aquent Director of Marketing Eric Wanta added that the current job market in advertising, marketing, and PR is favorable to employees. "It's much more of a seeker's market than it has been," he said. "The economy has been coming back, and a lot of factors have been making marketers do more and spend more, and we're seeing more demand for marketing personnel."

Gaffin added that Monster.com's marketing and advertising listings are growing quickly. "We have an internal research team, they produce our Monster Employment Index, and they look at what are the emerging--or in the case of marketing, reemerging--industries," she said. "Marketing advertising, PR--they're all growing industries right now, again."
