Heavy.com has closed an international distribution deal with ContentFilm, giving the company rights to distribute Heavy's programming in all international markets save for Australia and New Zealand. The deal will span three years, and will allow ContentFilm's subsidiary, Fireworks International, to provide Heavy.com's content to Web sites, video-on-demand services, or television networks. "They'll put together the deals and we'll work with the partner in the territory and give them kind of the compartmentalized version of Heavy that they could localize for that territory," said Heavy.com co-CEO Simon Assad. "What we're hoping is either one-offs for television or franchise deals with Web sites." According to Assad, Heavy.com content will most likely be licensed in the U.K. and Canadian markets first. The deal was announced on Wednesday.
