A federal court in Texas has ordered EchoStar to halt the use and sale of its digital video recorders, following an earlier ruling that found the satellite operator had infringed on a TiVo patent. A
U.S. District Court judge ordered EchoStar to pay TiVo nearly $16 million in interest and additional damages on top of the $74 million a jury awarded in April. EchoStar's request to stay the
injunction pending appeal was denied.
