Allison Arieff, founding editor in chief of successful shelter magazine
Dwell, abruptly quit the magazine Tuesday, saying she was uncomfortable with its editorial direction. Arieff resigned
after a meeting at which an editorial reorganization was unveiled. Arieff had been with the publication since its launch in 2000. In a release,
Dwell said Managing Editor Ann Wilson Spradlin
would take charge of editorial and art duties.
Dwell, which radically revamped and relaunched its Web site in June, has been busy lately expanding into other businesses, including conferences,
cable TV and a line of prefab homes with builder Empyrean.
