BMW Accelerates Golf Involvement

  • November 3, 2006
BMW, which has sponsored international golf events since 1985, is shoring up its involvement with golf in the U.S. The Woodcliff Lake, N.J.-based automaker, which also sponsors an America's Cup sailing team and an F1 auto racing team, is adding title sponsorship of one of the four PGA Tour playoff tournaments in 2007.

BMW recently signed a six-year deal with the PGA Tour and Western Golf Association (WGA). Part of that deal is the BMW Championship, part of the new FedEx Cup competition, which will start in Chicago and rotate each year through other cities, including St. Louis and Indianapolis.

BMW is sponsoring a PGA Tour event for the first time this week as official automotive sponsor of November's Championship, which started yesterday in Atlanta.
