The consumer automotive Web site Edmunds.com has named the Toyota Tundra the most significant vehicle of the year, but the pickup will face stiff competition from its Big Three counterparts, which
account for more than 90% of all U.S. full-size truck sales.
But in addition to their reputations, Ford, GM and Dodge trucks offer a strong stable of features and options that Asian automakers don't match--such as
special "heavy duty" versions with optional diesel engines, special transmissions, and reinforced frames.
