Yahoo Search Growth Outpaces Google's

Google claimed 49.6% of all U.S. searches in September, marking a slight drop from its 50% share in August, according to new data by Nielsen//NetRatings. Overall, users conducted an estimated 3 billion Google searches in September, up 23% from last year. On Yahoo, searches surged 30% year-over-year--bringing the company's market share to 23.9%, up from 23.4%. MSN, however, continued to lose share; the company garnered just 519 million searches in September, down 12% from last year. MSN search now commands just 9.2% of the market.
