Showtime Licenses 'L Word' Apparel

TV lesbians are hot. Just ask Showtime, which airs the series "The L Word." Now, the show about lesbians in Los Angeles is going retail. The network has partnered with top designers to create a collection of limited-edition apparel and accessories, such as jewelry, sportswear and denim. Showtime will promote the shows in various ways, including an On Demand sweepstakes, a fan "Design-your-own T-shirt contest," auctions at "The L Word" events and traditional television and newspaper efforts. The show's fourth season kicks off Jan. 7.
