Move over, YouTube. Brightcove plans nothing less for its newly launched Brightcove Network than to revolutionize video distribution, monetization, and viewing on the Web.

"We provide a very different model than video-sharing sites," says Josh Hawkins, senior marketing manager at Brightcove. "We give content owners the ability to launch their own branded Internet video channels on their Web sites or through any affiliate Web site they choose."

Any content producer, large or small, can use Brightcove Network and its suite of tools. The producer can distribute content independently or through Brightcove's affiliates (including AOL and Yahoo), or through Brightcove.com, which the company hopes will become the Web's go-to video hub.

Producers sign up with Brightcove Network for free, then split ad revenue equally and earn 70 percent on sales or rentals of video downloads.
