Gore Taps MSN For 'Live Earth'

Former Vice President Al Gore on Thursday announced a worldwide day of concerts and events to raise awareness of global warming among more than 2 billion people. The 24-hour concert known as "Live Earth" will be broadcast live in the U.S. on Internet portal MSN as well as on NBC and satellite radio stations Sirius and XM. Music acts slated to perform in concerts in seven cities globally on July 7 include Red Hot Chili Peppers, Snoop Dogg, Duran Duran, Foo Fighters and Keane. Kevin Wall, one of the organizers of the "Live 8" concerts to fight Third World poverty, will produce the event through his company Control Room. Proceeds from the concerts will go to fund The Alliance for Climate Protection, a group chaired by Gore.
