Starbucks Lets Customers Design T-Shirts

  • February 19, 2007
To promote the individuality of its 5,000+ possible drink combinations, Starbucks is letting people design their own branded T-shirts bearing their favorite drinks.

At Starbucks.com, visitors can handpick the drink elements, and choose icons from fashion designer Mychael Knight of "Project Runway" fame to finish off the design. The cost and shipping are free.

"It's all about personalization and individuality," said a Starbucks spokesperson. It's also an attempt to ease the angst of ordering at Starbucks.

That experience has been parodied in ads for Starbucks competitor Dunkin' Donuts.
