Gap Inc. last week said that it had hired Michael Cape as executive vice president/marketing, for Old Navy. He had been vice president/director of brand marketing at J.C. Penney, where he directed the
development of marketing campaigns, media, publicity and all creative for private brands.
Cape reports to Old Navy President Dawn Robertson. Old Navy, as well as the Gap brand, has been
struggling with soft sales for months--in January, sales at Old Navy stores fell 1% from a year ago.
