Gumby Classics Go Digital For 50th Anniversary
Mar 19, 2007, 6:00 AM
To celebrate its 50th anniversary, classic "Gumby Show" episodes from the 1950s and 60s, including the pilot, have launched on Google and AOL/In2TV, along with a dedicated Gumby area on YouTube. Over the next few months over 200 Gumby episodes will roll out to the digital channels. Gumby's digital debut is the first time the series has been seen in its original format in more than 20 years. The Gumby episodes are being distributed by DMGI, a digital distributor of independently owned music, TV, film and video catalogs, which has licensed the episodes from Classic Media and Premavision.
MTV Networks and software company Rapt Inc. last week announced an agreement to license Rapt's media monetization platform across MTVN's U.S.- based online properties. Under the agreement, Rapt will deploy its proprietary applications to deliver pricing and inventory controls, analytic infrastructure, and data-driven decision support for MTVN. Rapt's media monetization applications are employed by a number of internet heavyweights, including Yahoo, Microsoft, NBC Universal, and Dow Jones & Company, among others.
