Toyota Makes Management Changes

  • April 20, 2007
Bob Carter, group VP/GM of Toyota's Lexus division, will become group VP/GM of the Toyota division, filling the position held by Jim Lentz before his promotion to EVP of TMS last year.

Carter will be responsible for all sales, marketing and customer satisfaction activities for the Toyota division and Scion. He continues to report to Don Esmond, SVP/automotive operations. Carter, who joined Toyota in 1981, has worked in many regional positions prior to helming Lexus. He was GM of Toyota's Denver region and GM of Lexus' Eastern area.

Jim Farley, group VP/marketing, is appointed group VP/GM, Lexus division, replacing Carter. Farley will assume responsibility for all sales, marketing and customer satisfaction activities for the Lexus division. He will also report to Esmond. Farley, who joined Scion in 2002, oversaw the launch of the youth-focused brand. Prior to his promotion to group VP/marketing for the Toyota division, Farley was VP/marketing for that unit.--Karl Greenberg
