Time Warner Cable, Fon Deliver Wireless Connections

Time Warner Cable is letting home broadband customers turn connections into public wireless hotspots, thanks to Wi-Fi startup Fon. The deal will affect 6.6 million broadband subscribers, and will help TWC stop customers from fleeing to free wireless elsewhere. Google and eBay's Skype are investors in Fon, which was founded in 1995 in Spain.
