UK Surfers More Video-Centric than In U.S.

Video streaming is more popular in the UK than in the U.S., according to comScore, which said 80% of UK Internet users ages 15 and up streamed video in April, compared with 76% in the U.S. France also beat the U.S. with 79% while the figure for Germany was 70%.
UK surfers spent 10% of their total time online viewing videos, comScore reported, compared with 6% in the U.S. and 9% in Germany. But France was the leader in this regard, at 13%.
Comscore said that the average UK streaming video viewer initiated 80 streams in April, compared with 65 in the U.S., 64 in France and 62 in Germany.
More than a third (38%) of the 1.98 billion streams in the UK during April were initiated at Google Sites, including YouTube. Google was followed in order by Yahoo Sites, BBC Sites, Fox Interactive Media and Microsoft Sites.
