Wesley A. Jackson, promoted three months ago to president and general manager of Belo Interactive Media, will leave the position as of Sept. 1. No successor was announced by parent company Belo Corp.

Belo Interactive runs more than 30 Web sites that in first quarter 2007 averaged more than 7 million monthly unique visitors and 145 million page views. Internet ad revenues in the quarter increased 18% to $12.3 million.

Prior to his six-month stint as president and GM, Jackson had served Belo Interactive in several escalating positions for more than six years, starting as vice president of ad sales in June 2000.

Dallas-based Belo Corp. said Jackson is leaving to relocate closer to his family in Louisville, KY, but that he will continue to assist the company as an advisor--and to represent Belo in all negotiations with Yahoo as part of the Newspaper Consortium, the advertising network he helped form, which focuses on classified, content sharing, and search.

In addition to the Consortium deal with Yahoo, Belo praised Jackson for bringing the company into Classified Ventures, LLC, whose online classified products include Cars.com, and for championing new products, such as a permission e-mail program.
