Estee Lauder's Gloss.com Shutting Down

Beauty site Gloss.com is about to shut down, reports Women's Wear Daily, after six years of experimentation. Acquired by the Estée Lauder Cos. in 2000 for an estimated $20 million, the site then expanded to include an alliance with Chanel and Clarins. The site struggled, and reportedly never went above $10 million in sales, as consumers instead chose to buy beauty products either from branded or retailer sites.
