Drugstore.com Launches Store For Health Service Account Holders

  • August 14, 2007
Drugstore.com has rolled out an online feature that will allow Health Savings Account (HSA) holders to purchase eligible products, track purchases and prepare expense reports for tax purposes. UnitedHealth Groups Exante Financial Services has signed on as the first HSA benefits provider to provide its clients with direct access to the site, while Doclopedia is providing the HSA tracker, a free online medical organizer for record-keeping purposes.

As more employers offer HSAs and FSAs (Flexible Spending Accounts) to supplement traditional medical benefits, consumers are increasingly looking to use those funds online. At drugstore.com, FSA holders can already buy prescriptions, contact lenses and other approved products, and the site also features shopping guides, product comparisons and related articles.

"The store takes the guesswork out of identifying eligible products, takes the Exante Bank HSA debit card as payment and tracks purchases so that expenses can be easily recorded for tax purposes," said G. Todd Berkley, vice president, account-based solutions, Exante Financial Services.
