NYT Reports Earnings

Online ad growth for The New York Times' News Media group slowed in July to 19.3% year-over-year from 22% year-over-year growth in June, the company reported Thursday. Overall, The New York Times Co. reported total revenue down 3.5% in July compared to the same month a year ago. Revenues at About.com grew 34.7%. The Times Co. reported total TimesSelect subscription numbers for July of 771,400--462,800 through the service's home-delivery package, 225,100 through online-stand-alone. By comparison, online-stand-alone subscribers totaled 224,580 in June. In addition, for the month of July, The New York Times Company had the 10th-largest presence of all Web publishers, with 44.7 million unique visitors in the U.S., according to Nielsen//NetRatings--up approximately 25% from 35.7 million unique visitors in July 2006.
