Acme Communications To Sell CW Affiliate

The dissolving Acme Communications station group said last week it has wrapped the sale of its CW affiliate in Decatur, IL. In August, company executives indicated that they plan to sell their remaining six mid-market stations, highlighted by a duopoly in Albuquerque.

Gocom Media purchased the Illinois station for $4 million, and now has a duopoly there coupled with the Fox station.

Acme was founded by a team that included former WB head Jamie Kellner to own and operate stations affiliated with that network. When the network shut down last year, all but one of its stations--the now-MyNetworkTV affiliate in Albuquerque--switched affiliation to the CW.

Kellner remains chairman and CEO.

The company has hired media broker CobbCorp to gauge market interest in its remaining stations, which are in DMAs ranging from 45 (Albuquerque) to 85 (Madison).
