MySpace, BBC, Enter Into Agreement

  • January 28, 2008
MySpace and BBC Worldwide have entered into an agreement for the popular social network to make BBC shows available, including "The Mighty Boosh," "Robin Hood" and "Top Gear."

The deal is the first of its type between MySpaceTV and a major broadcaster. BBC already streams several channels on YouTube. The move is part of a broader distribution strategy for the UK-based broadcaster, which has a similar deal in place with Google's video site, YouTube.

Per the deal, BBC is getting its own MySpaceTV channel, which will host excerpts of current and archived content. MySpace also just promoted Jeff Berman, formerly of MySpaceTV, to oversee the site's content and marketing initiatives.
