TMZ Launches Cross-Carrier Mobile Site
Users can access TMZ's mobile site by entering TMZ.com into Web-capable phones or by texting 52662 to get the link sent to their phone. Fans can also sign up for breaking news alerts sent via text message.
The alerts let users browse recent headlines and updated photo galleries, participate in mobile polls, watch videos and read story previews that will air in the daily TMZ television show.
Advertising on the site is being sold and served by AOL's Third Screen Media and Quattro Wireless, which are splitting ad revenues on a 50/50 basis with TMZ.
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment serves as launch sponsor of the new site, promoting the DVD and Blu-ray release on April 8 of the Judd Apatow-produced comedy "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story," starring John C. Reilly.
