Campo To Head truTV's Programming

One of the executives who shifted from Court TV to successor truTV has been elevated to the top programming position at the reality (or as the network would say) "actuality"-based network.

Darren Campo takes the role of senior vice president of programming, production and development, giving him oversight of some 30 series. He will report to general manager Marc Juris, another holdover from Court TV, where the network's increasing reliance on reality programming prompted the re-branding. Campo had been senior vice president of programming, strategy and research.

Juris said Campo "brings to the role an invaluable understanding of the audience and the kind of strategic thinking rarely seen today." Campo has worked on such series as "Ocean Force" (a kind of "Cops" about lifeguards) and "Speeders," which features cops apprehending reckless motorists.

Before joining Court TV nine years ago, Campo worked at CBS in research and programming at the local stations group in a position that included acquisitions of syndicated series.
