Departing Aegis Americas chief David Verklin has been tapped as CEO for Project Canoe, the cable industry initiative to develop a national interactive cable TV advertising infrastructure, the New York Post reports. Citing unnamed sources, the paper reports: "Verklin has indeed signed on for the job, and a formal announcement is expected in early June. Other details of the secretive project, including the real name, will also be disclosed at that time." Verklin, who on April 22nd announced plans to step down at year's end, and turn management of Carat North America to his hand picked successor Sarah Fay, said he would be available to consult Aegis for several months after that. At that time, he told MediaDailyNews that he planned to take some time off from the business before deciding what to do next, but that he would likely reemerge in a media industry role.
