TV Networks Demand RedLasso Stop Distributing Clips Online
May 22, 2008, 7:15 AM
Television networks Fox, CBS and NBC have sent a letter to RedLasso
demanding it cease and desist distributing TV clips online. "Your
company has built a business on the unauthorized syndication of the
content owners' news, entertainment, sports and other television and
radio content," the letter states.
The TV networks gave RedLasso until May 29 to respond to the letter. RedLasso is a favorite of many bloggers, who use the service to place clips of TV shows on their sites.
RedLasso CEO Ken Hayward said the company has been in talks with content owners for two years and that he's optimstic they will reach an agreement. "RedLasso believes we are providing a valuable service to the content producers and the bloggers," Hayward said. "We believe that our conversations--that have been going on for two years with the content producers--will ultimately result in a favorable outcome."
