The New York Times is adding a new section on Fridays called "Escapes" that will feature articles on travel, real estate, and cars, the company announced Monday. "Escapes" will be the first new
section the newspaper has launched since the debut of "Circuits," a technology section, in 1998. The newspaper will also expand the reach of several existing sections of the paper that are currently
only seen in New York and Northeast editions. The "Living Arts" section that had appeared in national editions of the paper will be replaced by "The Arts" on Mondays through Thursdays, "Dining
In/Dining Out" on Wednesdays, and "House & Home" on Thursdays. The newspaper is also increasing its coverage of business travel on Tuesdays and commercial real estate on Wednesdays.
