As rising food prices are sparking an increase in coupon clipping, Coupons, Inc., which claims to be the largest interactive coupon company, has acquired CouponBug, a leading coupon web site.

CouponBug has marketing agreements with more than 100 major-market TV stations, and ads direct consumers to its website, where they can print out the coupons they want.

CouponBug says it will "significantly increase its media activity in the third quarter of this year, generating approximately 250 million viewer impressions in over 50 major markets. By 2009, the campaigns are expected to reach 80% of all television viewers."--Sarah Mahoney
