Verve Wireless Raises $3 Million

Mobile technology developer Verve Wireless has closed a second-round financing of $3 million from investors led by The Associated Press and including Iron Capital. The company, which offers a mobile publishing platform for local sites, has received $5.5 million in funding to date.
With its latest round, Verve plans to expand its ad sales force to handle national brand campaigns as well as hiring additional technology staff. In addition to the AP, clients include McClatchy Interactive, Freedom Communications, The New York Times Co. and Journal Communications.--Mark Walsh
