New Social Network Targets Divorced Women

  • September 11, 2008
The first online community devoted to women transitioning through divorce (www.firstwivesworld.com) is launching a social network designed specifically for divorced women of all ages.

No matter what stage of divorce a woman is in--contemplating, navigating or moving beyond--the network offers support, advice, inspiration and new ways to socialize now that they are no longer part of a couple. The site lets members start discussion groups, post blogs, and search out and find one another via a host of details in common--such as ZIP code, divorce stage and age range.

The site embraces first-time users of Web 2.0 with original video tutorials for users that explain Social Networking 101 and walk members through every step to help them understand the benefits of the site and how it works. Site-specific tutorials cover key topics such as "Filling Out a Profile," "Getting Oriented" and "Finding Friends."

Original programming on the site includes "Hot Flashes", a groundbreaking serial blog written by Mimi Schmir, one of the writers of "Grey's Anatomy"; the "Debbie Does Divorce" video series where First Wives World's own Chief Executive Girlfriend Debbie Nigro offers interviews on hot topics; and "Get Fit Post Divorce" vlogs from celebrity personal trainer Kathy Kaehler.--Tanya Irwin
