Primedia Sales Increase

Primedia today announced 2001 first quarter sales from continuing businesses of $422.1 million, an 8.0% increase from $391.0 million in the year ago quarter. First quarter 2001 EBITDA from continuing businesses totaled $40.1 million compared with $52.0 million in the year ago quarter. Traditional media sales increased 4.5% to $399.8 million from $382.7 million one year ago. New media sales increased 168.7% to $22.3 million from $8.3 million one year ago, and include one month of About, Inc. that merged with Primedia at the end of February. Total traditional advertising revenues on an apples-to-apples basis were up 6.4%. Total new media revenues for the first quarter, including About March revenues in both years, were up 39%.
