Senate Passes Intellectual Property Bill

The Senate Friday passed an intellectual property bill that would create a new copyright czar.

But the most controversial portion of the original bill, a provision that would have given the Department of Justice the ability to bring civil lawsuits against file-sharers, was struck from the measure after Bush administration officials objected to it.--Wendy Davis
