Cox Broadcasting, Inc. today announced it has reached a definitive agreement to purchase NBC affiliated stations WJAC-TV (Johnstown, PA) and WTOV-TV (Steubenville, OH) from Sunrise Television Corp.
for an undisclosed sum. Pending regulatory approvals, the transaction is expected to close later this year. Johnstown and Steubenville adjoin Pittsburgh, where Cox owns WPXI-TV, also an NBC affiliate
and the market's highest-rated station for local news. John Howell, WPXI vice president and general manager, will have overall management responsibility for all three stations.
