Kweisi Mfume, the president and CEO of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), announced his endorsement of local people meters Monday. He cited the meters as a "more
accurate and reliable way of tracking household viewing habits" in local markets around the country.
Mfume believes that the people meters will aid in fair counting procedures where African
Americans, Latinos, and others are accurately counted.
