'Washington Post' Starts Wiki-Style Who's Who

  • January 23, 2009
The Washington Post Co. has launched the beta version of a new site, WhoRunsGov.com, featuring concise profiles of the capital's movers and shakers.

Each bio offers in-depth background on a subject's policy experience, key associates, political affiliations and voting records, among other information, as well as related articles from around the Web. The site will also include a daily news blog overseen by Greg Sargent called The Plum Line that focuses on the roles of Washington's top players in the policy-making process.

Site visitors will initially have the ability to discuss profiles online, with more interactive and collaborative features to be added when WhoRunsGov.com expands to become a moderated wiki later this year.

Users will then be invited to submit suggested additions and revisions to the text of specific profiles based on reliable published sources or authoritative information. To ensure accuracy, the editorial team will review each submission before publication.--Mark Walsh
