Changing demographics and time-starved U.S. consumers prompted the dairy foods manufacturer to introduce this new butter stick size, the company says.

Land O'Lakes began offering a new one-pound package of its salted butter with eight (2-ounce/one-quarter cup) half sticks early in 2008. The new packaging was available in approximately half the country--21 states along the Eastern Seaboard and across the Southeast--in addition to its original package with four full-length, quarter-pound sticks.--Nina Lentini
