Plastic.com, a news filter/group web log devoted to pop culture, has launched a guerilla and traditional marketing campaign in San Francisco. Plastic.com is the first new Web property to be launched by Automatic Media, the content network umbrella that includes the online magazines FEED, and Suck. Plastic representatives have hit the streets of the city, handing out 15,000 plastic eggs promoting the site. Each promotional egg includes a "call to action" insert, featuring a Plastic headline. Eggs will also be dropped in key city neighborhoods, including the Noe Valley, the Castro district, the Upper Haight, Golden Gate Bridge Park, and SOMA. The guerilla campaign will also include stickering and stenciling (using water-soluble materials). All of these efforts will be supported by a series of 5 print ads, which will run in the Bay Guardian. The campaign, designed by New York agency eisnor, aims to build awareness of the brand and increase users.
