ABC's 'Diamonds' Didn't Sparkle, CW's 'Hitched' Ditched

The CW's HitchedIn case you didn't know it, there are a couple of new shows on broadcast TV this summer. Didn't watch? You weren't alone.

The second part of the ABC miniseries "Diamonds" earned a microscopic -- and somewhat startling for a big-four broadcast network -- 0.6 rating/2 share among 18-49 viewers, according to Nielsen's preliminary results. This proved to be half of what an original "According to Jim" earned earlier in the evening, at 1.2/4.

Most eye-opening was that this landed ABC tied for last place with the CW at a 0.8/2. ABC was the worst among all networks for younger 18-34 viewers, with a 0.5/1.

The CW offered up a barely seen new TV show of its own. "Hitched or Ditched," a reality effort that pulled in with 0.7/2 for both 18-34 and 18-49 viewers, averaged just 1.5 million overall viewers for the night, the lowest result among the top six-rated networks.

CBS cruised to an overall and modest Tuesday night win with a 2.3/6 among 18-49 viewers with an economically minded lineup of repeats from "NCIS," "The Mentalist" and "Without a Trace." "Mentalist" was the highest-rated show of the night, with a 2.4/7.

NBC came in second place, offering two hours of "TV's 50 Funniest Phrases" and a "Law & Order" repeat. This brought the network to a 2.1/6 for the night.

Fox aired a new drama, "Mental" -- a kind of "House" for the mental health community -- complete with an unorthodox doctor at hand. It had modest results for a summer show: 2.1/6. "Mental" ran at 9 p.m. after a "House" repeat. Fox ended the night with a 1.9/5, coming in behind NBC among 18-49 viewers. Fox won the vote for 18-34 viewers with a 1.7/5.

Univision was next at a 1.6/5 for both 18-49 and 18-34 viewers. Its "Mañana Es Para Siempre" pulled in a 1.8/5 for its best result.
