Social (Media) Faux Pas

Amazingly, it was social media guru Joe Marchese who made it. And in truth, I completely missed it, but Marchese, while moderating OMMA Social’s “Buying Social Media” panel, inadvertently referred to “social media campaigns.”

“What’s a social media campaign,” quipped Barbarian Group CEO and panelist Benjamin Palmer, with enough inflection that led Marchese to immediately correct himself, acknowledging a “faux pas,” and modifying his question to “social media presence.”

That was way too much subtly for me, who still doesn’t understand why you cannot have social media campaigns, and why it’s uncool to refer to them.

So if you know, give me a clue, and post a comment here.

Thanks.
