Nielsen: Global Ad Spend Drops 7.2% in 1Q '09

Per Nielsen's Global AdView Pulse, ad spending globally dropped 7.2% in the first quarter of 2009 compared to the same period in 2008. Hardest hit were the European countries, with Spain down 28.2% and Ireland down 21.2%. The U.S., by contrast, dove 12.7%, while ad spend in Asia Pacific had a slight drop of 2.3% in the period.
