PepsiCo has appointed Jonathan McIntyre to the new position of SVP, PepsiCo R&D Global Beverages, reporting to Mehmood Khan, chief scientific officer, and Massimo d'Amore, CEO, PepsiCo Americas Beverages.

McIntyre will lead the R&D beverage agenda worldwide, per the company, and will be responsible for developing products with "real functional and natural advantages" per a company release. PepsiCo, for example, recently launched naturally sweetened, zero-calorie variants of SoBe Life Water using the Stevia root.

Most recently, McIntyre served as SVP, technology and innovation at Solae, a DuPont foods company. --Karl Greenberg
