Denny's Giveaways Incentivize Larger Orders

Denny's Giveaway

Denny's new Grand Slam Bahamas Vacation Getaway promotion gives customers an incentive to add items to their orders, and servers an incentive to nudge customers in that direction.

Servers are being asked to inform customers that if they buy an entrée and add a beverage, pancake puppies, soup, salad, or dessert to their order, they will receive a scratch-off game card. A customer may qualify for up to four game cards by buying four of the qualifying items. (Consumers may also obtain up to four free game cards sans purchase by mailing in requests.)

Each card provides instant-win opportunities for food and beverage prizes good on the customer's next visit (no later than Sept. 30), plus a scratch-off revealing a code for a chance to win one of 42 grand prizes: five-night/six-day trips for two to the Bahamas. The trips include airfare, accommodations at the Wyndham Nassau Resort & Crystal Palace Casino, $100 in Free Play Casino Cash, and two rounds of golf.

Players register and enter the code at grandslambahamas.com to determine if they've won (a computer program will generate 42 random winning times).

The eight Denny's servers who sell the most qualifying items by the end of the promotion will also win Bahamas trips for two. In addition, eight iPod Shuffles, 20 $50 Walmart gift cards and 40 Coca-Cola-branded prizes will be given away to servers.

Denny's CMO Mark Chmiel said in a release that the giveaways will serve the chain's dual goals of enriching customers' experience and demonstrating its appreciation for its employees.
