NBC's 'Talent' Gains Traction, All-Star Scores Win

NBC's America's Got TalentWhile Fox's "Major League Baseball All Star Game" helped the network to a Tuesday night win, it was NBC's "America's Got Talent" that stole the show.

The growing reality talent competition effort grew 20% over its previous week to its best 18-49 numbers so far, a Nielsen preliminary 3.6 rating/10 share. Moreover, its total viewers score -- 13.2 million -- was the largest for any network show since the finale of "American Idol" in May.

NBC came in second place on the night to Fox, with a 2.6/8 among 18-49 viewers.

Baseball's All-Star game has a preliminary average of a 4.0 rating/12 share among 18-49 viewers, down from its 4.5 rating of a year ago. For the night, Fox snared a Tuesday night-leading 4.0/12 among 18-49 viewers, as well as a dominant 3.4/12 among young 18-34 viewers.

CBS and Univision were next among the 18-49 crowd -- with a 1.8/6 and 1.4/4, respectively.

Amid a number of network reruns, ABC aired a full night of originals -- but it still landed in fifth place among 18-49 viewers, a 1.3/4. "The Superstars," its 8 p.m. reality sports competition show, moved down from a week before to a 1.2 rating/4 share among 18-49 viewers. It had a 1.4 rating the previous week.

Another remaining "Better Off Ted" episode for ABC at 9 p.m. clocked in at an underwhelming 1.0/3. ABC's other fresh network programming came from "Primetime: Family Secrets," which earned a mild 1.8/5 on the night at 10 p.m.

CW aired repeats of "90210" and "Hitched or Ditched" which garnered a 0.3/1 among 18-49 viewers, 0.4/1 among 18-34 viewers and an overall average of 777,000 total viewers.
