Peacock Struts 'Colorful' Campaign

NBC will be adding a subtle two-word marketing tweak to its fall promo efforts: More Colorful.
Attached to all the network's promo materials -- on-air and off -- NBC will add the two words: "More Colorful." They will be placed under its current NBC logo. The aim is to broaden the appeal of its longtime rainbow-colored NBC peacock icon.
The marketing premise is that NBC has "more colorful stories," "more colorful TV shows," "more colorful you-fill-in-the-blank." The new tagline will be seen in on-air marketing starting Sept. 14, the night that the new "Jay Leno Show" debuts.
NBC executives would not comment on the new addition, but others close to the company insisted it isn't part of a new overall branding campaign for the network.
Last year, NBC toyed with some different on-air marketing efforts under the "Chime In" campaign, where different NBC stars and other celebrities offered up their musical versions of the famed three note -- G-E-C -- NBC's historical musical theme.
Also, last season, NBC hired outside branding agency Naked Communications to help with its overall branding chores. Naked aided NBC with some research efforts around "more colorful," but the tagline itself was developed in-house.
