Huffpo Names Platform-A Vet As Pres And CFO

The Huffington Post has named Greg Coleman, former president of AOL's Platform-A ad division, as the company's new President and Chief Revenue Officer.

HuffPo's current Chief Revenue Officer James Smith is leaving the company, but is expected to work closely with the company's CEO Eric Hippeau on the transition.

"As a Yahoo board member, I've known Greg for many years," Hippeau said. "Greg is uniquely qualified."

Smith began at the company in internal sales and business development efforts. Under his leadership, the company significantly increased advertising and solidified its brand positioning with marketers, Hippeau added.

"From our first discussion, I was impressed by his deep understanding of new media, and the tremendous changes occurring in advertising," said Arianna Huffington, co-founder and editor-in-chief of The Huffington Post.

Coleman most recently served as president of Platform-A, AOL's advertising business. AOL CEO Tim Armstrong ousted Coleman after just three months on the job. Coleman was brought in by former CEO Randy Falco in February, replacing Lynda Clarizio, but Falco was fired just two weeks after Coleman arrived.

Huffington Post claims roughly 23 million unique monthly visitors, while Nielsen puts the number at less than 10 million.

The company has raised approximately $35 million from Greycroft Partners, SoftBank Capital Partners, and Oak Investment Partners.

Prior to AOL, Coleman served as president and CEO of NetSeer, a start-up company focused on next generation search and ad targeting. Before that, he was EVP of global sales at Yahoo, where he was responsible for all advertising revenues worldwide.

Excellent. We can now get a handle on the cookie deletion for Huffpo. They report 23m unique visitors a month (as measured by cookies), while Nielsen's panel (which doesn't use cookies) has unique audience (as distinct from visitations). We can see that the cookie-deletion factor is somewhere around 2.3 cookies a month or around every 12 days on average.
