Glam Names Former Yahoo Veep Jacobs To SVP Post
At Yahoo, Jacobs served as VP and general manager of marketing technology, and was head of strategy and marketing for its Publisher Network.
In this newly created position, Jacobs will assume responsibility for all of Glam's brand advertising products, including its owned-and-operated sites and applications, the Glam Publisher Network, and its brand advertising partners. In addition, Jacobs will be responsible for global marketing and communications.
Key to Glam's success is "the development of premium display as it relates to ... niche content," according to Samir Arora, chairman and CEO of Glam Media.
Jacobs is credited with setting Yahoo's ad technology strategy, and for driving the marketplace operations supporting the company's ad platform. He also contributed to the vision of the Right Media Exchange as an open marketplace for digital advertising.
At Glam, Jacobs will lead global marketing functions, and will be responsible for brand, global marketing strategy and marketing functions including brand and agency marketing, corporate communications and research.
Jacobs will report to Jack Rotolo, who was recently appointed as President of Glam Media North America, and will be part of the global executive team led by Arora.
As a distinctly new media company, Glam has grown accustom to poaching executives from rivals with more moderate growth trajectories. Bucking that trend, former Glam executive Joe Lagani was named SVP of ad sales at rival iVillage earlier this month.
Last month, Glam announced that its flagship U.S. women's division has achieved profitability.
